Radar sensor VEGAPULS 68 achieves breakthrough in bulk solids measurement |
The new VEGAPULS 68 radar sensor for solids with parabolic antenna for optimal re #ection characteristics

Radar has become widely accepted as the standard measuring technology for reliable measurement of liquids. This non-contacting measuring principle combines reliability with easy handling in widely varying applications. With continuous measurement of solids, however, compromises often have to be made. Dust, filling noise, mechanical loads and difficult installation conditions often cause unreliable measuring results or even complete blackout of the measurement. With the new VEGA radar sensor for bulk solids, these weaknesses and inadequacies belong to the past. VEGAPULS 68 combines the advantages of radar measurement technology with the specific requirements of bulk solids measurement. VEGAPULS 68 delivers reliable level data even in high temperatures, as e.g. in steel production. Dusty conditions in the coal processing facilities of power plants or in building materials stores do not bother the radar instrument in any way. The wide dynamic range of the sensor opens up new possibilities in applications with powders and granulates in the foodstuff and chemical industries. It can process signals up to a thousand times smaller than those normally handled by conventional radar instruments. "With VEGAPULS 68 we have started a new era in level measurement of bulk solids. Our vision of a universal measuring instrument became reality with radar technology" - Günter Kech, Executive Director of VEGA Grieshaber KG.
