Contactless radar measurement established itself within a very short time as a standard method for level measurement of bulk solids. Since VEGA introduced VEGAPULS 68, the first radar sensor for bulk solids, in 2004, practically all applications in the area of bulk solids can now be realised with radar technology. Thanks to the high dynamic range of bulk solid radar sensors, reliable measurement is always guaranteed during filling and under conditions of extreme dust and noise generation. With its new radar sensor VEGAPULS 67, VEGA can now offer this superior measurement reliability at very low cost.
The new VEGAPULS 67 finds application in areas where, for reasons of economy, ultrasonic instruments or capacitive probes were used until now. A new, innovative antenna system of plastic makes it possible to offer VEGAPULS 67 at a considerably lower price. Yet the tried-and-true pulse radar technology, with its high signal sensitivity and echo evaluation specially optimised for bulk solids, remains the heart of the instrument.
The sensor is the ideal solution for applications in medium-sized silos up to 15 m high and covers the majority of standard applications in industries that process bulk solids - from the food industry to plastics warehousing right through to building materials production and processing.
The optimised mounting concept makes it easy to adapt the small, light sensors to existing mounting apertures. And the two-wire technology enables problem-free replacement of obsolete measuring systems, since the existing connection wiring can be used. The sensor has all the relevant ATEX approvals for use in dust Ex hazardous areas.
