Flue gas scrubbers in the power plant
Flue gas scrubbing ensures a clean environment
In many chemical factories, an in-house power plant provides energy in the form of process heat or electric current. Besides supplying energy, a power station also offers the possibility of disposing of residual substances from chemical production through incineration. The required additives must be kept ready during the whole process. To do this, exact filling level and limit measurement is required.
VEGASWING 63 as overfill protection in the ammonia tank
In the flue gas scrubbing process, ammonia is needed for nitrification of the flue gas. It is fed together with air to the reactor and the catalysts. Ammonia is usually stored in horizontal round tanks. VEGASWING 63 reliably detects the limit level in the container even under Ex conditions. The mandatory recurring annual check can be carried by simply pushing a button - without dismounting the sensor.
Pressure monitoring with VEGABAR 61 in the flue gas scrubber
The exhaust gases created in the combustion process are freed of pollutants and cleaned by a flue gas scrubber. To fulfil the demanding requirements of pressure measurement in the flue gas scrubber, a very durable measuring diaphragm is required. By merit of this sensor version with isolating diaphragm, the membrane material of VEGABAR 61 can be selected to best suit the application.
Level measurement in the lime silo with VEGAFLEX 61
Due to extreme dust generation during filling and the varying humidity of lime flour, microwaves lend themselves particularly well to filling level measurement in the lime silo.
The VEGAFLEX 61 guided microwave device is a simple and economical solution for medium-sized containers less than 15 m (49 ft) high.
For large silos, contactless measurement is preferred. The free radiating radar sensor VEGAPULS 68 is simply mounted in the ceiling and is thus in no way subject to wear. If large amounts of dust collect on the antenna system, the antenna can easily be kept clean by means of the rinsing air connection.
Dependable volume measurement in the flue ash silo with VEGAPULS 68
The ash in the flue gas is filtered out with large electrostatic filters and stored partly in very large silos. The enormous dimensions of the storage silos - e.g. heights well over 60 m (167 ft) - make non-contacting volume measurement with the radar sensor VEGAPULS 68 the ideal solution. Due to the high sensitivity of this sensor, even ash varieties with extremely poor reflective properties, for example the type created in a waste incineration plant, can be reliably detected.
