Liquid bitumen in the asphalt mixing plant
Roads are the lifelines of our modern world. New construction and maintenance of important traffic routes require flexible and highly economical asphalt mixing plants. Bitumen, mixed with a large variety of fillers, yields paving material of various qualities fine-tuned to various surfaces.
Level measurement in ready asphalt with VEGAPULS 68
Viscous, hot and sticky are the typical properties of ready asphalt. They represent a challenge that VEGAPULS 68 is ready to meet. Even the condensate that collects on the antenna cannot blur the view to the product level. The irregular product surface caused by filling from different directions is also no problem. In order to operate in temperatures over 200°C (392°F), VEGAPULS 68 is equipped with a rinsing air connection for antenna system cooling.
Overfill protection with VEGACAP 65
VEGACAP 65 as a separate overfill protection is the ideal complement to continuous level measurement. By virtue of the robust construction of its cable electrode, the capacitive level switch is totally wear- and maintenance-free. Condensate, build-up and product flow have no effect on the instrument. Its high measurement reliability is also guaranteed by the new safety standards acc. to IEC 61508. The capacitive level switch is suitable for use in measurement chains up to SIL 2.
Level measurement with VEGAFLEX 66
As an alternative to contactless measurement, VEGAFLEX 66 has proven to be a very good solution. Just like the free radiating radar sensor, the measuring principle known as "guided microwave" can also operate in temperatures up to 250°C (482°F). Neither build-up nor foam from the liquid bitumen can influence the measuring result. Interference from vessel installations, such as e.g. heating pipes, is unknown to VEGAFLEX 66.
VEGABAR 65 with metallic measuring cell for
Installed from the bottom, the space-saving VEGABAR 65 is completely immune to the adverse conditions in the bitumen tank. Even foam does not influence the hydrostatic measuring principle. VEGABAR 65 owes its extremely high accuracy, even at high temperatures, to the METEC® measuring cell. The patented construction of the METEC® measuring cell gives it excellent temperature characteristics. All wetted components are made of 1.4435 stainless steel and Hastelloy C 276.
VEGACAP 64 as overfill protection
VEGACAP 64 as overfill protection lends itself well as a supplement to continuous level measurement. Even build-up several centimeters thick on the electrode does not lead to switching point displacement or faulty switching. The instrument is thus ideal as the main component of an overfill protection system in the bitumen tank.
