Production of drinking water from seawater

Water in abundance?
It may appear as though there is an abundance of water on this planet. However only 0.3 % of the total water volume on this earth can be extracted and processed into drinking water! In some parts of the world, the only economical solution for the prodution of drinking water is from the desalination of saltwater. These installations offer a real challenge for sensor elements and their wetted parts.

Pressure measurement using VEGABAR 64
The VEGABAR 64 is the ideal solution for applications in pipes carrying seawater, due to its flush ceramic CERTEC ® measuring cell. No metal parts are exposed to the extremely aggressive salt water. The housing is made of rugged, UV resistant plastic, and is not affected by salty ambient air. The VEGABAR 64 is also available with a stainless steel housing made from AISI 316L.

Dry run protection using VEGASWING 61
VEGASWING 61 goes well together with the VEGABAR 64 pressure transmitter. As dry run protection for pumps and limit detection for filling levels, it is an ideal supplement to the pressure sensors. With its short tuning fork length of 40 mm, VEGASWING 61 fits even in very small pipelines. Materials like Hastelloy, enamel or ECTFE and PFA coatings make this level switch highly resistant to corrosive mediums.
