Microfiltration cleaning
Water from part cleaning and degreasing equipment is often contaminated with oil. This leads to increased fresh water consumption and shortened equipment service life. With modern microfiltration technology, oil can be easily separated from water. Via special pre-separation equipment, the residual oil content of the oil/water mixture is reduced to less than 0.5 %. In the subsequent microfiltration facility, it is pumped through tube-shaped ceramic membranes at a pressure of approx. 5 bar (72.5 psig). Here it is separated into so-called retentate (concentrated oil/water mixture) and filtrate (purified water). To enable automatic operation of the microfiltration facility, level measurements in the receivers and pressure measurements around the ceramic membranes are necessary.
Level measurement in the receivers
The levels in the operating, rinsing, and filtrate vessels are measured with the VEGAWELL 72 suspension pressure transmitter. The unique advantages it offers for this application are the front flush CERTEC ® ceramic measuring cell and easy mounting from above.
Pressure measurement in the retentate and permeate line
Process efficiency depends on the permeability of the diaphragm. The pressure difference between the retentate and the permeate is measured by a VEGABAR 52 pressure transmitter. When a certain limit value is exceeded, a diaphragm cleaning cycle is automatically started.
